Annapurna Treks & Adventures

The Annapurna region, which spans 80 km between the Kali Gandaki River in the west and the Marsyangdi River in the east, is located in the middle of the Nepalese Himalayas. To the north is the enigmatic and shrouded region of Mustang, which was closed until recently. There are 11 other lofty peaks surrounding the hump-shaped Annapurna I (8091m). Just two examples include the snow-covered Annapurna III (7555m) and the rocky Annapurna II (7937m). The Sanskrit name Annapurna means "goddess of food and nourishment." Likewise, the renowned lake city of Pokhara is situated at the foot of the Annapurna range.

A French expedition made the first ascent of Annapurna in 1950, starting from the North Annapurna Glacier. It was an outstanding accomplishment among the 8000ers and the start of a renaissance in Nepalese Himalayan mountaineering.
