Pashupatinath is not merely a place of worship. It combines elements of culture, art, and religion. It provides serenity and devotion. The temple has numerous temples and monuments spread across 246 hectares of land. Every day, hundreds of ceremonies are carried out here. The temple grounds are a public museum. In 1979, this national asset received the UNESCO designation of World Cultural Heritage Site.

For anyone interested in art history, this temple is a must-see. It exhibits several temple designs, including Dome style, Pagoda style, Shikhara style, and others. Around the compound, there are several statues and sculptures as well. Statues come in wood, metal, and stone varieties. Around the temple area, the entryway and pillars are intricately carved with images of God and griffins.

Pashupatinath extends from Pashupatinath’s primary temple to Guheshwori. The Bhuwaneshwori, Dakshinamurti, Tamreshwor, Panchdewal, Bishwarupa, and other well-known temples are located in this region.

The Kali temple, which is situated on the banks of the River Bagmati, is full of folklore and has an intriguing aspect. The legend holds that the statue expands from its initial location and that the end of the world will occur when the half-in, half-out figure is fully revealed. Every temple has its own set of rituals to execute as well as unique ideals and traditions. Shleshmantak, a little woodland on the opposite bank of the river, is home to deer and monkeys. On the banks of the River Bagmati, there is a traditional cremation.

The Pashupatinath Temple’s main complex is built in the traditional Nepalese pagoda architecture. Everything about its design, from cubic structures to deftly carved wooden rafters, is geared toward this specific form. The main doors are covered in silver, while the copper roofs are adorned in gold. Two Garbhagrihas and a gold pinnacle known as Gajur may be found in the magisterial temple. The Lord Shiva idol is housed in the inner garbhagriha, while the exterior is an open area that resembles a corridor. The large golden statue of Lord Shiva’s steed, Nandi the bull, is the main draw of the temple complex.
